The EU Commission decided to introduce new rules pertaining to aviation security. The new rules came into effect on November 6th, 2006. There are now restrictions to the amounts of liquids and containers that may be taken on board in hand baggage, each container may only contain 100 ml of content. The allowed amount of liquid has to be kept in its container (e.g. a bottle or jar) and these must be placed in a transparent, sealable plastic bag that is no larger than a 1 litre bag. This bag must then be shown at the security control. For further information on EU rules and prohibited items, please see
