Being environmentally-conscious on board
We examine all the options we have to be environmentally conscious on board our flights and always discuss environmental aspects with our suppliers. It is all about many small measures taken which together results in a substantial effect.
Locally produced food
We have a constant ambition to serve food which is produced as close by as possible and on outbound flights we mainly serve food and beverages from Sweden. On homebound flights we serve food which is produced as locally as possible as we enter into agreements with local catering suppliers at the holiday destination. By not transporting food meant for consumption on the flight home to the holiday destination we save around 1 kg of weight per served meal. Most of all Novair flights take locally produced food on board. For example, on outbound flights, we serve Swedish water from Grythyttan.
Recycling
We have been recycling our aluminium cans for years. However, there are still few airports that handle recyclable waste. This is something that we discuss continuously with airports and authorities.
Material on board
The throwaway material we use on our trays is incinerable. Rotable material is washed with environmentally-friendly detergent and is reused between 40 and 500 times. On factor which complicates the issue is that rotable material weighs more and therefore impacts the fuel-usage of the plane and it has a direct effect on emissions of carbon dioxide. We strive continuously to be able to calculate the optimal division and use of the material on board our flights. One example is that we are now exchanging all the trays we use to lighter options.
