Since 2001, Novair has collected over 100,000 SEK in coins on board our flights all over the world. The entire sum of the money collected has been donated to Bangpoo, one of the SOS children’s villages in Thailand, which is located north of the capital Bangkok.
Time allowing, the cabin crew collect donations after showing a film about the SOS children’s villages and their operations. If you would like to make a donation of any size, or currency, you can do so at the collection boxes that will be passed around the cabin at various times during your flight.
Would you like to become a sponsor to a child? In that case, you can fill out a sponsor application in ”A Little Book about SOS children’s villages” that the cabin crew can give you.
Every year, Novair employees visit Bangpoo village, and there we can see that the funds that have been raised really are used for the good of the children. The children are provided with a safe environment in a family, and a chance at an education and healthcare. We often visit the children around Christmas when we take much needed and useful presents along that all the children can benefit from.
Bangpoo was the first SOS children’s village to be built in Thailand and was completed in 1972. The little village consists of 12 houses which are all built the Thai architectural style. The children’s village also consists of a congregation house, a workshop and a library. The younger children go to a SOS day-care centre which is also open to other children in the nearby regions.
The children that live in Bangpoo either have parents that are alive, or they have been abandoned. One children’s village ‘mother’ lives in each of the houses and takes care of the 10 children that are her family. The way the village works is that the children, the ‘siblings’, and ‘mother’ of each house live as a family in order for the children to have a stable and safe upbringing.
You can watch our on board film (in Swedish) which is shown in collaboration with SOS Children’s Villages.
