Passports and Visas

ID verification of airline passengers
ID verification of airline passengers at checking in and boarding have been enforced in accordance with a new EU directive. This is to ensure that a passenger who has checked in baggage on a particular flight also boards that flight. This rule pertains to all international flights. Accepted ID documentations are: passports, driver’s licenses and SIS-marked ID-cards.

Passports
Border controls of identification are no longer carried out since Schengen cooperation. However, you must be able to verify your citizenship and identity with a passport when staying in another Schengen country, at for instance a hotel, hostel or camping site.
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your intended return date and that none of the pages of the passport are damaged in any way.
If your passport has expired and you have a temporary passport, contact the embassy, or relevant passport authority in Sweden of the destination country to verify which ID documentation rules apply in the country you are travelling to.

Visas
Certain countries require visas for entry and it is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they have the pertinent visa when they depart on the trip.
